Immortality does not extract one from the web of mutual causation; it merely extends one's participation indefinitely. The moral architecture, in Huayan terms, is not threatened by the removal of death. It is threatened only by the severing of relational connection—and that, as I argued above, is the deeper problem with mind-uploading regardless of whether death is eliminated.
 

Moral Architecture Without Death: A Buddhist Philosophical Response
